To ensure that voting accounts are secure, the only information recorded in the database is the user's name, IPMS number, and IPMS membership expiration date, and email address. No other personal information is recorded.
Email addresses are used to verify voting accounts as they are more secure than possibly public information such as IPMS number, local addresses, etc. Also, email address are 'single' pieces of information where a local address contains, at a minimum, four pieces of information (address, city, state, ZIP code), so matching an email address is easier than matching an address. Email addresses are also not case sensitive.
At the conclusion of voting, the tally of the votes for each amendment will be emailed to the IPMS/USA Office Manager. A second list containing the IPMS numbers of the members who voted online will also be emailed to the Office Manager. Note, that this second list will only indicate who voted, not what they voted. This is to ensure that no member voted using the paper ballot and also voted online.
